Fabric-Covered

Nothing matches a garment better than buttons covered in the same fabric as the garment itself. Ours are stitched over button blanks in the historically correct fashion, so no metal backs or shanks show to detract from the appearance of the garment.

Blanks are available in both flat or slightly domed shapes.

We will advise you of the amount of fabric you need to send for the number and size of buttons you choose. The general rule of thumb is that a square of fabric twice the diameter of the button is required for each button.

Instead of using holes or a shank, buttons are attached to the garment by stitching through the gathered fabric and threads on the back of the button. A detailed description of the technique is included on our "Sewing Hints" page.
